Organizing Space!

Organizing Space!

With all the stress of everyday life, sometimes it can be especially difficult to get your ducks in a row and consistently keep them in a row. How can you be expected to be held accountable for said ducks when you already have so much on your plate? Never fear, dear reader. In this week’s post, we’re going to focus on the major keys to organization.

Learn to let things go: Yes, sentimental value is most definitely value nonetheless, and I suppose you never really know when you’re going to need to use something, but when it comes down to it, you usually don’t need most of the things you have. Sell or donate any replaceable items you haven’t touched in over a year.

Take each space by sections: It’s okay to not always expect a perfectly spotless house in one fell swoop of a cleaning purge; in fact, it shouldn’t be expected. Tidying up can be a time-consuming task! Just take it bit by bit. Focus on one part of one room per cleaning session, and one room at a time.

Get creative: Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and use your resources! Antique malls and thrift stores are storage goldmines. Use crates and the sort to create gorgeous and unique pieces. Some varnish can make a world of a difference. Check out this Pinterest board, it’ll be sure to spark some inspiration.

Containers galore: Bins, buckets, jars, baskets, and labels are your best friend. Home decor and organization doesn’t get much more cute, practical, and simple than that. Use them to categorize just about anything and everything.

Use your vertical space: When it comes to decluttering, the sky is quite literally the limit. Don’t forget, you can always store upwards! If the square footage situation of your living space could stand to be a little larger, taking advantage of shelving, under-bed space and the likes is absolutely key.
